The challenge

The 100m Future project transforms a section of Fasanenstraße in central Berlin into an urban living lab where innovations in mobility, climate resilience, health and circular economy can be tested under real-world conditions. The key challenge was not the technology itself, but the coordination of a highly complex implementation process involving public authorities, political stakeholders, local residents and a diverse consortium of innovation partners.

As the project manager on behalf of the service consortium, it was important to structure this complexity early on and to establish viable cooperation and decision-making processes.

The tactic

urban tactics established the governance framework for the project, bringing together public authorities, innovation providers, local stakeholders and consortium partners. Through a structured process of stakeholder engagement, public communication and iterative project development, the team created the organisational and political foundations required for implementation in public space.

The result

A robust organisational, legal and communication framework has been established to enable the implementation of the living lab.

Long-term cooperation with the district administration is in place, permitting procedures are being coordinated and the project has achieved strong public visibility. These foundations create the conditions for the first full-scale interventions in public space to be implemented from autumn 2026 onwards.
