Press and public relations for the exhibition "Migrating Spaces" at the Haus der Kulturen der Welt (HKW) in Berlin
The Challenge
Over a period of four years, an interdisciplinary team of artists and academics investigated the design and spatial characteristics of houses built by returning or cross-border migrants in Turkey. A total of eight field research trips were undertaken, visiting twenty Turkish provinces to analyze the building culture of these returning migrants and draw conclusions about the continuity and change in their lifestyles. To this end, 132 houses and apartments in Turkey—including their urban contexts—were mapped, examined, and documented, and a total of 37 interviews were conducted with owners of 23 houses and 14 apartments.
The project culminated in an exhibition at the Haus der Kulturen der Welt (HKW) in Berlin in March 2016.
The result
Responsible for press and public relations, Urban Tactics founder Simon Wöhr succeeded in getting national media outlets, such as the Süddeutsche Zeitung or Deutschlandfunk, interested in the topic and reporting extensively on the project.
